Hi Nate - Thanks for that clarification. I'll only say that I know a few people who read that similarly to the way I did - which is, that if you were being proposed that kind of money on one occasion, it seemed that was closer to your regular fee. I appreciate you taking the time to explain and apologize for using your example inappropriately. I'll figure out altering this to reflect your comments.

I have no problem with your article save for a couple factual errors. I did not write I was payed $125,000 a year by the Atlantic. I said I was offered to write 6 articles a year by the then Editor of the Atlantic back in 2003. before it came to fruition, while we both were in Iraq--myself in Baghdad itself when the American "awe and shock" war began as a freelancer (actually for Slate for a grand total of $2000 and no expenses paid, to be precise), that Editor was killed while embedded with US troops assaulting the city I was in. I, in fact have never made 125,000 a year, and my income over the last decade has never to be entirely transparent exceeded 25,000 dollars. Given I am two months late on rent as we speak, and the article that I did write for NK News, by my choice, I was paid exactly $50, I think you are using the wrong man as an example to make your point

Dial H is my favorite New 52 series, along with Animal Man and Team 7.
Talking about new titles, yesterday DC announced that 4 titles are ending with the 16th issue:
Blue Beetle
Frankenstein Agent of S.H.A.D.E.
Grifter
Legion Lost
2 of them will be replaced with a JL spinoff and a new Superman title (it’s so ironic that DC replaced C-list titles with A-list ones, like when they replaced Mr. Terrific and Men of War with Earth 2 and Batman Inc). The other 2 replacements are an enigma. What do you predict?

"Though it is technically a superhero genre story, Lemire has taken it about as far away from those trappings as anything can get": You're right, Animal Man's biggest strenght lies with the way Lemire deconstructs the superhero mythology. For example:
1) Superheroes tend to monopolize the attention of the reader, while Animal Man is constantly upstaged by the supporting characters of the series.
2) Superhero comics usually don’t give much importance to the private life of their main character (they tend to focus only on the “costume on” part); in Animal Man, on the contrary, the private life of Buddy is the main theme of the series. In fact, it is rather infrequent to see Buddy with his costume on.
3) Buddy is not perfect, and is not perceived as perfect by other people: in fact, in the 11th issue, when he tells his wife “It’s going to be okay”, she replies “Don’t give me anything of that superhero crap, Buddy.” That cut and thrust perfectly enlightens the philosophy of the series.
